Samsung’s recent launch of a new range of touchscreen phones coupled with a new push towards more mobile applications based on the android platform has industry insiders speculating on a new angle in the competitions with apple’s iphone. With each new array of the Samsung phone being introduced, from the high end multifunctional Acclaim with android 2.1 to the Samsung Sunburst, targeting the low end social networking junkie seems all set to take the touchscreen market by storm.

The qwerty models include the Samsung Exclaim which features a fully featured qwerty keyboard and integrated sprint GPS, and towards the lower end of the spectrum, the Samsung Saga which uses the windows mobile 6.1 and offers access to both GSM and CDMA networks which means that you can use this phone anywhere in the world. The most obvious focal point is the touchscreen genre is of course the availability of mobile apps, or rather in Samsungs case the lack of apps.

But the evolution of the android operating system looks sufficiently promising to allow the unhindered development of apps and a viable future for mobile gaming and productivity designers. The newest model in the Samsung touchscreen docket is the Samsung Vibrant. Featuring a super AMOLED touchscreen which allows for astonishing sensitivity and HD quality playback. Packing a 1 GHz hummingbird processor running on Android 2.1, this phones has no lack of applications available via synchronicity the Samsung app store. Boasting a 5.0 MP camera and memory expandable up to 32 GB, this phones does not disappoint a shutterbug. Kindle users have reason to celebrate as the phone is eminently capable of being used as an ebook reader. The address book feature is the most interesting bit of the phone with the attempt to integrate contacts and email in one app, while the feeds and updates and buddies now apps are a godsend for anyone who is a regular user on networking sites.

The biggest advantage though is in its power consumption with the new design offering 20% higher usage time between charges. QWERTY models have not exactly been Samsung’s strong point, with previous models barely competing with the blackberry and palm models, but Samsungs latest offering in the QWERTY group the Samsung Exclaim offers some food for thought with its integrated Sprint navigation service and a strong focus on its social networking applications. For a QWERTY phone it offers remarkable web surfing features and a rather handy camera.

While Samsung might yet redeem itself in the touchscreen market by its judicious adoption of Android for the phones ,the phones themselves target a remarkably small spectrum, with its attempt to please every section of the consumer market the company might be wasting valuable research and time on developing unnecessary features and ignoring potential winners.

In this day and age it is absolutely essential to have a cell phone. Gone are the days when people were unreachable for periods of time – now it seems like everyone needs to be available at any given moment in order to successfully function in society. The problem is that cell phones are small, compact and often quite expensive – and when you lose one your service provider often makes you pay exorbitant fees and/or makes you sign a new contract before getting connected once again. Thankfully there’s a loophole.

Many outlets sell used cell phones and mobile devices catered to your interest. There are a few things you should know when buying a used cell phone in order to get the most bang for your buck. Online vendors such as eBay are a popular place to find used models of cell phones. One very important thing to do is to ask questions. See if the phones are ‘unlocked,’ meaning they work with any service provider. Oftentimes phones are specific to a certain carrier, such as the Android with Verizon or the iPhone with AT&T.

Make sure you are buying a phone that will work with your service plan. Be sure to ask other standard questions too – like why the phone is being sold, if there are any damages, what features it might have, etc. Be aware that if you purchase a phone such as a BlackBerry or an iPhone you will likely have to add a data plan to your cell phone bill in the long run. It is also important to ask about a return policy. Your phone might work just fine right out of the gate, but falter a few days afterward and you’ll have wasted your money. See if you can return it for a refund or exchange it for a new model before committing to any purchase – and be sure to keep all receipts and copies of the transaction when dealing with online vendors.

Used cell phones can range anywhere from $10 to $150 depending on what you are buying. Phones that are more in demand, such as iPhones, Androids and the latest Blackberry models, will undoubtedly cost a bit more.

Be sure to go over a few of these helpful tips when making your decision about purchasing a used cell phone, and you should be on your way to getting the best possible product you could ask for. Don’t miss out on this great money-saving opportunity.

Buying a mobile phone used to be a very big decision, however as costs have come down there are many cheaper alternatives that you can think about when choosing what phone you want. This article will look into some of the basic factors you should consider when looking for cheap cell phones for you or your family.

When thinking about the expense of a phone you should first make the decision regarding the payment model you will choose. Typically, there are two models you can choose from, (1) pay as you go and (2) a contract plan. These two models differ in the way that you pay the telecommunications companies quite dramatically.

With a pay as you go phone, you are paying for the phone itself outright and them just paying for the actual cost of ever call you make. To top up you credit you can buy top-up cards over the counter and newsagents, or you can use an automated system that will allow you to charge up credit using your standard credit or debit card. Call costs using a pay as you go phone are usually slightly higher.

A contract plan involves you having an agreement with a telecommunications company like AT&T or Verizon to spend a minimum amount of money every month. Depending on what that minimum fee is, the phone company will subsidize the cost of the phone handset and give you a certain number of minutes of calls and text messages each month included as part of the package. If you use more that your allotted number of minutes or messages, you will be charged an additional fee.

Do not be fooled into thinking a contract will allow you to get a better handset, ultimately you are still paying for the handset it is just that you are spreading out the payments over the term of the contract, usually one or two years. Your decision should be based on how much you will likely use the phone.

If you are likely to use the phone quite a lot and would easily exceed the number of included minutes within a contract it is probably better to choose a contract with lower call costs. If you rarely make phone calls, a pay as you go strategy is probably best. There are a number of very inexpensive prepaid models under the $50 prices tag such as the Samsung U350 and the Nokia 2720 that would suit the needs of an infrequent user.

The key to purchasing a good inexpensive phone is to first clearly understand your own calling habits and requirements and then investigate the total cost of ownership over a one or two year time frame.

Ever wondered what bit of your phone actually connects to your network, stores all your numbers and details and allows you internet access? It’s actually one of the smallest components, and it’s called a SIM (security identity module) card. The reason why you may not know what one looks like is that for the most part, contract phones come all set up and ready to go, with a 3G SIM already installed which never needs to be changed or replaced.

These small cards hold all the data about your number, which network you’re accessing, your data usage and dozens of other bits of information. It is becoming easier to buy a SIM card and a handset separately to avoid the high tariff contracts charged by most phone companies. Buying a 3G SIM card is incredibly simple and very cheap, so the main difficulty is knowing what offers are out there, and what represents good value for you.

An important task before setting out to buy a SIM card is to work out how many minutes you use currently, how many text messages you send and how much internet data you use, as these are the most common numbers that companies will wage price war with. Once you’ve worked those out, it’s time to go shopping. Each of the major phone companies (AT&T, Cingular, Verizon) offer one of two offers when it comes to SIM cards; a free SIM with a short term cheap contract, or you buy a pre-paid SIM, which has a certain amount of minutes and data attached, and then you top it up with more money once that initial lot has run out. Both can represent good value, depending on how you like to pay, and on what offers on minutes and data you can get.

Average prices from the big 3 companies mentioned about come in at around $20 a month for the first kind, which gives you 300 minutes and 250MB of internet data. It is possible to spend less, but the chances of over-running your credit means that you’ll probably end up paying more in excess data and minutes.

For the pre-paid SIM, you shouldn’t be paying more than $10, but these will only get you 100 minutes and 100MB of data, both of which run out fairly quickly. The pre-pay SIMs are better value for people who want a phone just for an emergency, or to get their children started. The contract SIMs represent better value to the average cell user.

Quite recently 3G touch screen cell phones has picked up popularity in the markets as a result of which, the cell phone manufacturers have turned to produce more and more touchscreen phones with a wide variety of features pre installed. The competition these manufacturers face from each other are so intense that, each day you could expect a new 3G touchscreen phone in the market with loads of competing and breath taking features.

Some of the exciting touchscreen phones recently launched and those with great sales are Apple iPhone 3G, the Nokia XpressMusic 5800, BlackBerry Storm 9500, Samsung Omnia i900, Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 etc avaialable at an approximate price ranging from $650 to $850. The iPhone 3G touchscreen mobile priced at around approximately $750 is the most widely or commonly used touchscreen 3G phone. The intuitive features the iPhone 3G houses such as the 3G wireless enviroment, GPS tracking etc is something which makes the phone a hot deal. Combined with the features of an Ipod, a touch screen phone and an internet device, the iPhone 3G is a remarkable device that is worth a buy.

However there are quite a few areas which one has to take good note of while planning to purchase a 3G touchscreen phone:-

1) The display size:- Display size is a major thing that you got to look out for when purchasing a touchscreen phone since each and every function is carried out by the tap of a finger. So bigger the display more comfortable you would be in using the features.
2) Sensitivity of screen:- This is an area that should be given utmost importance, since every feature on a touch screen phone is accessed by the tap of the finger on the screen, it is quite inevitable to note how it responds to your gentle tapping.
3) Battery life:- Phones with bigger screens are more prone to lesser battery life. Touch screen phones are never an exception in this case since, they are the ones that drains the battery life quite rapidly. So before purchasing a touchscreen phone, make sure that one with the best battery life possible in the bigger screen category is bought.
4) The user interface:- The user interface is some kind of a concern when it comes to touch screen phones. There are quite a few touch screen models having smaller on screen icons which could be kind of a strain if fingers are used. In those cases, the stylus has to be made use of. But for those who aren’t comfortable using the stylus, phones with big screens and large icons on it are advisable. Neverthless using the stylus or either the fingers has got its pros and cons.
5) Internet browsing capabilities:- Since these days, a vast majority of the people prefers hand held devices to browse through the internet or do their day to day activities on internet, going through the internet capabilities of the phone such as the Wi-Fi or edge support would be a good idea. Wider the range of internet specifications on the phone, much productive it would be in the long term.

We’re thrilled to host this edition of The Tech Carnival. Submissions may include any tech related links, from phones, to cameras to computers, and everything in between Let’s get started!!

1. The Comcast virus protection free download is a service offered to any customer subscribing to any level of Comcast high-speed internet. The virus protection package is valued at $120 and can be downloaded directly from the comcast.net homepage, under the “security” tab. Simply click on the link and you’ll be taken through the download process of the Norton antivirus suite.

2. If you thought digital TV for PC was just a couple of junk companies vying for your attention, you are going to be mildly surprised by the amount of competition and the top companies that compete to bring you television where you want to watch it. Check it out at YourPCTVshop.com for more information.

3. Buying a digital camera can be a frustrating experience unless you know exactly what you’re looking for. With so many different options on the market, how are you supposed to choose just one? Rather than spend the time researching the various options, why not simply purchase a pink digital camera and be done with it. Pink cameras are fun, capable and priced right.

4. SEO Tutorial is an online primer that teaches you the basics of search engine optimization. Covers organic SEO, how to choose a domain, how to select the right keywords, how to optimize your web pages and how to build quality inbound links and SEO specialist reviews.

5. Laptops and computers have become one of the most essential items a person can have in their home. From online shopping to staying connected with friends, computers can do it all. Unfortunately, not everyone can afford a computer because they have a high upfront cost. However, there are financing plans available for people who need a computer but don’t have the cash to buy one outright right now. This computer financing site has everything you need to know about financing a new laptop or computer.

6. Buying a PS3 can be expensive, but if you’re an avid gamer, it’s an investment well worth your while. One way to cut down on costs is to get a PS3 bundle, which will include one or more games and usually some extra hardware, for much less money. Whether you prefer shooting, adventure, or puzzle games, you’ll find a bundle that’s got just what you’re looking for.

7. Mini laptops are among the hottest electronic products available in the market. They have become popular because they offer people the flexibility to access the Internet on the move. A mini laptop would be useful particularly for students and business travelers.

So it has finally happened, the Apple iPad three G is available for customers. Ever since Apple CEO Steve Jobs announced the iPad, back in January of this year, potential customers have been highly anticipating its arrival similar to couples waiting for their new born baby. Last month it became available for customers, world wide. Although on the whole it has been a big success if one were to go by sales figures, the reaction to the product from a technical stand point has been mixed. Yes, it’s true that it is in a way a large iPhone. After all, it has the same operating system and touch screen display. But it is much more than that. To look at it as simply a bigger and more sophisticated iPhone would be a mistake.

First off, lets talk about the looks. One of the first things that anyone will notice is that the iPad looks very good, as does all Apple’s products. The high resolution 9.7 inch backlit LED display looks great. The screen makes activities such as web browsing and movie watching a real pleasure. The iPad has a multi touch screen that has been designed to be very precise and responsive. The iPad only weighs 1.5 pounds and is only half an inch thick. Another very popular feature is the battery life, which is much longer than the average laptop. You will now get 10 hours of battery life compared to 3 or 4 hours. It will even be able to stay on stand by mode for a full month and still have enough charge to do a couple of hours of work.

So far we have talked about the external goodies of this machine. Now lets look at what’s inside, after all that’s what really counts. The iPad three G has a built in 802.11n which means it can take advantage of Wi-Fi networks. In fact it will automatically locate any Wi-Fi networks which you will be able to hook on to with just a few key strokes. It also comes with Bluetooth 2.1+EDR which allows it to connect to wireless devices. The iPad has a very powerful A4 chip designed by apple engineers that is also very efficient. This is the secret behind why the iPad performs better than any touch screen device you have seen.

When it was first released, the iPad was not three G capable. But now they have released it with three G capability and you will be able to take advantage of super fast speeds for data transfer, up to 7.2 Mbps to be precise. This is what makes it very versatile piece equipment, because even if there is no Wi-Fi available you will be able to take advantage of the three G capability for all your download needs. On the down side the biggest complaint about the iPad is that it is costly to purchase. It also requires a bevy of add on features like lots of apps, bags, cases, iPad screen protectors, and whatever else you choose to buy in iTunes in order to take full advantage of it.

It’s been a year since I’ve started using the Sony Ericsson (SE) M600i. I like this phone because really helps me with more than just making and receiving phone calls, but also browsing the internet, checking email, going on Facebook, chatting, and more. This is one of the most high-speed Three G phones, with a good price.

SE M600i comes with 60MB of internal memory and includes a 64MB Memory Stick Micro (M2) card with the phone. But I suggest to getting a 1GB card for bigger space if you want to save multimedia files on it.

Running Symbian OS 9.1 and UIQ 3.0, SE M600i boasts UMTS support and the usual business applications, such as QuickOffice to write, edit, and read Microsoft Word and Excel documents, and a PDF viewer. With this features, for me, SE M600i mixed my business with pleasure meanwhile I use it for listening music, video streaming, and games. And by using SE PC Suite application help me sync my e-mail, contacts, calendar, and tasks from SE M600i to computer. SE M600i organized my business in my hand easily.

And not just for phone call and business applications, sometimes I use SE M600i as modem by wired or wireless connection. Through Bluetooth I connected SE M600i to my computer and sharing files to other cell phone.

Its slim design looks elegant with comfortable qwerty keyboard and large touch-screen display. I think SE M600i is one of best pocketable smartphones. Using 3-way scroll wheel we can move up, down and select easily, going back by pressing back button on left side, using its @ button to open browser (but this can be changed to other actions in the settings), and the good one is we can use pen stylus to write faster than using its dual function keyboard.

Despite all its many features, the lack of Wi-Fi support and a camera sorely disappointing and sometimes it crashed once in a while, most while browsing.

The Three G phones known as third-generation phones, also called IMT-2000, given this name only for phones that applies to some of the rules and laws that need to know if you are looking to buy a phone technology, 3G, these rules determined by a competent organization that is the International Telecommunications Union. Simply any phone using any of the following types of networks is the third-generation Tel: EDGE, UNTS or CDMA, could also consider the phones that use the technology of WiMAX or DECT phones in the 3G.

But what distinguishes mobile 3G Phones?
What can be said that the most important characteristic of the 3G phone is that it gives you a different experience when you use them than to those of other phones do not support the 3G, the third-generation phones to find the freedom to use your phone as you wish, for example, could be used to send your e-mail, and send to friends your favorite video clips you have, it can also send MMS messages at the same time very easily, I want to say is when you can send and receive and view any information you want to know at any time you like by using your mobile phone then we can say that your phone is 3G.

Of the most important characteristic of the 3G phones on the 2G or even the 2.5G is that you can use voice services with data services at the same time without problems, this means that you can be running applications on your phone at the same time can make your phone without any constraints.

Oissa characteristic of the 3G phones is the speed of data transfer, which helps to add many services and new service such as mobile video communication service. As the 3G technology gives you more security, which means less chance for others to access and review your personal information without your knowledge, in short when you use the 3G phone that can store your important information without concern.

There are a lot of the 3G phones currently available in the market, the most famous Nokia N97, Samsung Tocco Ultra Edition, LG KM900 and of course phones have larger potentials, such as BlackBerry 9500 Storm and the Sony Ericsson W995.
