Review: Samsung Pixon

Samsung has added to the three g phones pool with another mobile phone that is more than meets the eye. The Samsung Pixon, like you might guess from the name, is as much a camera as it is a phone. The standout feature being a top notch 8.0 megapixel digital camera built in.

With imaging being its strength, the Pixon comes loaded with all kinds of great imaging software for use with that great camera. For those pictures of you friends and family, the Pixon comes with face detection autofocus software as well as Smile Shot, which is a program that makes sure your picture is taken when the subject is smiling. It also has advanced shake reduction, to help you avoid those blurry pictures everybody hates. The camera is also great for use as a video camera, able to record up to 120 frames per second and works excellent for video phone calls.

The Pixon has a huge 3.2 inch TFT touchscreen, that is perfect for all you needs from imaging, surfing the web to watching video clips. For watching those video clips, the Samsung Pixon comes ready to use with all your MPEG4, WMV, DivX or XviD video files. Unlike many other phones, the Pixon has very few limitations when it comes to videos. When it comes to music, the Pixon has a media player that supports MP3, AAC, eAAC+ and WMA music files, it also has FM radio with RDS.

With all those files, you’re going to need some memory to save them. The Pixon has you covered, it has 200 MB of internal memory and a microSD slot for expanding your memory. Unlike some other 3G phones, this one is compatible with larger High Capacity SD cards also. You’ll never run out of space with this model.

Of course, like most mobile phones these days, the Pixon has Bluetooth 2.0 stereo for all your compatible devices and Bluetooth needs. Surfing the web is a breeze with the 3.2 inch touchscreen and simple navigation. All the normals are onboard, like IM, email, text messaging and much more.

As a 3G mobile phone, the Samsung Pixon is just another face in the crowd but as a multifunctional device, it stands alone. You don’t come across a phone with such imaging capabilities everyday, if that’s what you want from your mobile phone, make sure to check out the Samsung Pixon.

Review: Nokia 6680 3G

Nokia has made some great three g phones since their introduction and the Nokia 6680 is no exception. Maybe not the most aesthetically pleasing phone on the market but it has some great features that make it one of the best mobile phones available.

One of the standout features of the Nokia 6680 is that it has two built it digital cameras, a 1.3 megapixel camera with 6x digital zoom on the back of the phone and a 640×480 VGA camera in the front with a real time video sharing application for video conferencing. It’s the perfect mobile phone for those who have many different imaging needs, from taking still pictures, to making videos and video phone calls.

The screen display is 262K colour with a resolution of 176 x 208 pixels, which is pretty good for a phone and works great for pictures and video calls. The phone has a built in light sensor that will automatically adjust the brightness levels of the screen if you are not using it, to save on battery drain.

Like most 3G phones, this phone comes with bluetooth technology built-in, comes with Real Player as the on-board media player, as well as Java. For memory expansion, the phone comes with an RS-DV-MMC 64 MB memory card. On the memory card are many useful applications for use with the 6680 including Nokia Wireless Keyboard, games, a photo editor, Adobe Reader and Kodak Mobile for printing all the pictures you take with the phone.

Because the 6680 is a 3G phone, it is much faster than previous generation mobile phones, capable of all the high speed downloading, data transfer and web browsing you would expect from a 3G mobile phone. 3G technology makes speeds over 2mb/s possible, which is the best available for mobile phones. Perfect for downloading videos, songs, ring tones and any other types of files you might want.

All together, the Nokia 6680 is a very good mobile phone but a great 3G mobile device for imaging and communication both. If you take pictures on a daily basis or need a phone capable of video conferencing, you definitely can’t go wrong with this model. It’s imaging dynamo is a device like no other on the mobile phone market and might just be the right phone for you.

Review: Apple iphone 3G

The iPhone 3G is Apple’s most recent innovation in the three g phones class. At first glance, it may look like a exact replica of the original iPhone. It’s without question that the differences between the phones are physically hard to see, but there are a few subtle external differences and more than a few significant internal differences customers should take notice of.

The iPhone 3G is available in two colors, black and white. The black version comes in two distinct sizes, 8 GB and 16 GB. The white version is only available in the 16 GB capacity. It isn’t made out of aluminum, like its predecessors, but rather made up of a glossy plastic. Personally I don’t like this change, but I understand why it was necessary considering the wireless capability it has within it.

Not a lot has changed with the 3.5 inch touchscreen, but this is a sign of the beauty in its original design. The touchscreen is as responsive, if not more so, as it was in previous models. Plus the touchscreen is as bright and beautiful as ever. Apple decided to not include a dock with th is model. This is horrible when you take into consideration the old dock, from previous models, is not compatible with the 3G. On the other hand, the virtual keyboard remains completely unchanged.

As an improvement, the iPhone 3G doesn’t have a recessed headphone jack. This feature was removed because of feedback received from users, since the original release. Another great improvement regarding audio capabilities is the fact that the speakers are now a few decibels louder then they were in previous models.

Underneath the plastic exterior, it’s really impressive. The iPhone 3G zips through data transfers and Web browsing, and has been observed downloading at speeds in excess of 800 KB per second. Being a AGPS device, This model really excels in it’s performance during positioning acquisition. In that area, this phone shows it’s superiority over other 3G phones.

The iPhone does have a some flaws though. It still does not have a user replaceable battery and still lacks a slot for users to expand its memory. But these flaws pale in comparison to the overall benefits you get for owning one.

Apple still appeared to be the leader in the market in regards to the smartphones, but the competition is starting to catch up. If you want the greatest 3G phone currently on the market, the iPhone 3G would be for you.
