So it has finally happened, the Apple iPad three G is available for customers. Ever since Apple CEO Steve Jobs announced the iPad, back in January of this year, potential customers have been highly anticipating its arrival similar to couples waiting for their new born baby. Last month it became available for customers, world wide. Although on the whole it has been a big success if one were to go by sales figures, the reaction to the product from a technical stand point has been mixed. Yes, it’s true that it is in a way a large iPhone. After all, it has the same operating system and touch screen display. But it is much more than that. To look at it as simply a bigger and more sophisticated iPhone would be a mistake.

First off, lets talk about the looks. One of the first things that anyone will notice is that the iPad looks very good, as does all Apple’s products. The high resolution 9.7 inch backlit LED display looks great. The screen makes activities such as web browsing and movie watching a real pleasure. The iPad has a multi touch screen that has been designed to be very precise and responsive. The iPad only weighs 1.5 pounds and is only half an inch thick. Another very popular feature is the battery life, which is much longer than the average laptop. You will now get 10 hours of battery life compared to 3 or 4 hours. It will even be able to stay on stand by mode for a full month and still have enough charge to do a couple of hours of work.

So far we have talked about the external goodies of this machine. Now lets look at what’s inside, after all that’s what really counts. The iPad three G has a built in 802.11n which means it can take advantage of Wi-Fi networks. In fact it will automatically locate any Wi-Fi networks which you will be able to hook on to with just a few key strokes. It also comes with Bluetooth 2.1+EDR which allows it to connect to wireless devices. The iPad has a very powerful A4 chip designed by apple engineers that is also very efficient. This is the secret behind why the iPad performs better than any touch screen device you have seen.

When it was first released, the iPad was not three G capable. But now they have released it with three G capability and you will be able to take advantage of super fast speeds for data transfer, up to 7.2 Mbps to be precise. This is what makes it very versatile piece equipment, because even if there is no Wi-Fi available you will be able to take advantage of the three G capability for all your download needs. On the down side the biggest complaint about the iPad is that it is costly to purchase. It also requires a bevy of add on features like lots of apps, bags, cases, iPad screen protectors, and whatever else you choose to buy in iTunes in order to take full advantage of it.

It’s been a year since I’ve started using the Sony Ericsson (SE) M600i. I like this phone because really helps me with more than just making and receiving phone calls, but also browsing the internet, checking email, going on Facebook, chatting, and more. This is one of the most high-speed Three G phones, with a good price.

SE M600i comes with 60MB of internal memory and includes a 64MB Memory Stick Micro (M2) card with the phone. But I suggest to getting a 1GB card for bigger space if you want to save multimedia files on it.

Running Symbian OS 9.1 and UIQ 3.0, SE M600i boasts UMTS support and the usual business applications, such as QuickOffice to write, edit, and read Microsoft Word and Excel documents, and a PDF viewer. With this features, for me, SE M600i mixed my business with pleasure meanwhile I use it for listening music, video streaming, and games. And by using SE PC Suite application help me sync my e-mail, contacts, calendar, and tasks from SE M600i to computer. SE M600i organized my business in my hand easily.

And not just for phone call and business applications, sometimes I use SE M600i as modem by wired or wireless connection. Through Bluetooth I connected SE M600i to my computer and sharing files to other cell phone.

Its slim design looks elegant with comfortable qwerty keyboard and large touch-screen display. I think SE M600i is one of best pocketable smartphones. Using 3-way scroll wheel we can move up, down and select easily, going back by pressing back button on left side, using its @ button to open browser (but this can be changed to other actions in the settings), and the good one is we can use pen stylus to write faster than using its dual function keyboard.

Despite all its many features, the lack of Wi-Fi support and a camera sorely disappointing and sometimes it crashed once in a while, most while browsing.

Samsung has added to the three g phones pool with another mobile phone that is more than meets the eye. The Samsung Pixon, like you might guess from the name, is as much a camera as it is a phone. The standout feature being a top notch 8.0 megapixel digital camera built in.

With imaging being its strength, the Pixon comes loaded with all kinds of great imaging software for use with that great camera. For those pictures of you friends and family, the Pixon comes with face detection autofocus software as well as Smile Shot, which is a program that makes sure your picture is taken when the subject is smiling. It also has advanced shake reduction, to help you avoid those blurry pictures everybody hates. The camera is also great for use as a video camera, able to record up to 120 frames per second and works excellent for video phone calls.

The Pixon has a huge 3.2 inch TFT touchscreen, that is perfect for all you needs from imaging, surfing the web to watching video clips. For watching those video clips, the Samsung Pixon comes ready to use with all your MPEG4, WMV, DivX or XviD video files. Unlike many other phones, the Pixon has very few limitations when it comes to videos. When it comes to music, the Pixon has a media player that supports MP3, AAC, eAAC+ and WMA music files, it also has FM radio with RDS.

With all those files, you’re going to need some memory to save them. The Pixon has you covered, it has 200 MB of internal memory and a microSD slot for expanding your memory. Unlike some other 3G phones, this one is compatible with larger High Capacity SD cards also. You’ll never run out of space with this model.

Of course, like most mobile phones these days, the Pixon has Bluetooth 2.0 stereo for all your compatible devices and Bluetooth needs. Surfing the web is a breeze with the 3.2 inch touchscreen and simple navigation. All the normals are onboard, like IM, email, text messaging and much more.

As a 3G mobile phone, the Samsung Pixon is just another face in the crowd but as a multifunctional device, it stands alone. You don’t come across a phone with such imaging capabilities everyday, if that’s what you want from your mobile phone, make sure to check out the Samsung Pixon.

Nokia has made some great three g phones since their introduction and the Nokia 6680 is no exception. Maybe not the most aesthetically pleasing phone on the market but it has some great features that make it one of the best mobile phones available.

One of the standout features of the Nokia 6680 is that it has two built it digital cameras, a 1.3 megapixel camera with 6x digital zoom on the back of the phone and a 640×480 VGA camera in the front with a real time video sharing application for video conferencing. It’s the perfect mobile phone for those who have many different imaging needs, from taking still pictures, to making videos and video phone calls.

The screen display is 262K colour with a resolution of 176 x 208 pixels, which is pretty good for a phone and works great for pictures and video calls. The phone has a built in light sensor that will automatically adjust the brightness levels of the screen if you are not using it, to save on battery drain.

Like most 3G phones, this phone comes with bluetooth technology built-in, comes with Real Player as the on-board media player, as well as Java. For memory expansion, the phone comes with an RS-DV-MMC 64 MB memory card. On the memory card are many useful applications for use with the 6680 including Nokia Wireless Keyboard, games, a photo editor, Adobe Reader and Kodak Mobile for printing all the pictures you take with the phone.

Because the 6680 is a 3G phone, it is much faster than previous generation mobile phones, capable of all the high speed downloading, data transfer and web browsing you would expect from a 3G mobile phone. 3G technology makes speeds over 2mb/s possible, which is the best available for mobile phones. Perfect for downloading videos, songs, ring tones and any other types of files you might want.

All together, the Nokia 6680 is a very good mobile phone but a great 3G mobile device for imaging and communication both. If you take pictures on a daily basis or need a phone capable of video conferencing, you definitely can’t go wrong with this model. It’s imaging dynamo is a device like no other on the mobile phone market and might just be the right phone for you.

Bluetooth is a high speed, low powered wireless link technology that’s designed to connect to three g phones or other portable equipment together with little to no work required by the user. Unlike infrared, Bluetooth doesn’t require line of site positioning to work.

Current prototype circuits are contained on a board that is 0.9 cm square, with a much smaller circuit board being developed.

When one Bluetooth device comes in contact with another, they will automatically exchange addresses and details of capability. Then, they can establish a 1 MB link with security that they will use as required. The protocols involved with handle both data and voice, with a very flexible topography.

The technology achieves its goal by embedding tiny, non expensive short range tranceivers into the devices available today. The radio operates on the 2.45 GHz frequency band, and supports up to 721 KBps, along with three voice channels.

Each devices offers a unique 48 bit address from the IEEE 802 standard, with the connections being point to point or multipoint. The max range is 10 meters, although it can be extended to 100 meters by increasing the power. The devices are also protected from radio interference by changing
their frequencies, also known as frequency hopping.

What’s important, is the fact that Bluetooth devices won’t drain battery life. The specification targets power consumption of the device, limiting the drain on the battery. The radio chip will consume only 0.3mA in stand by mode, which is less than 5% of the power that standard phones use.

Bluetooth will also guarantee security at the bit level. The authentification is controlled by the user via a 128 bit key. The radio signals can be coded with anything up to 128 bit. With the frequency hopping, Bluetooth is already very hard to listen into.

The baseband protocol is a combination of both circuit and packet switches. Slots can be reserved for synchronous packets as well. Each packet will be transmitted in a different hop frequency. Normally, a packet covers a single slot although it can be extended to cover up to five slots.

Bluetooth can also support data channels of up to three simultaneous voice channels. Therefore, it’s possible to transfer the data while you talk at the same time. Each individual voice channel
will support 64 KB.

From a technical standpoint, Bluetooth is very different indeed. It’s the best wireless method in the world, surpassing even infrared. For communication on the go, Bluetooth is indeed very hard to compete with.

If you’ve been in the market for Three G Phones, have a look at The BlackBerry Bold. It appears to be a great smartphone with few drawbacks.

The Bold looks sleek with its black color and chrome trim. The back is textured to feel like leather, and the 3.5 inch display has a more crisp and vibrant display than most other phones in its class, including the iPhone 3G. The Bold is sturdy, but it’s bigger than previous BlackBerry versions and is definitely larger than the iPhone 3G. BlackBerry loyalists will be happy to note that the Bold’s design stays true to previous models, but still has manages to look modern.

Among the Bold’s features, there is a 2.0 megapixel camera with digital zoom and built-in flash, a QWERTY keyboard, and tethered modem capability. The camera is nothing special, as the old BlackBerry 8800 model had a camera with the same amount of megapixels. For whatever reason, RIM decided not to improve the camera quality. The QWERTY keyboard is one of the phone’s stellar features. Email and texting are a delight with the easy to use keyboard. The keys are backlit, and even people with large fingers should be able to type almost effortlessly.

As far as battery life goes, the Bold can last up to 13.5 days in standby and 4.5 hours of talk time. I believe these estimates to be on par with most smartphones in the same class. In fact, these times are either better than or equal to the battery life of a 3G iPhone.

Included accessories with the phone are a USB cable and wall charger. The Bold has 1GB of on-board memory, and if that’s not enough, microSD memory cards are supported. A maximum of 8GB can be added with a high-capacity microSD card.

Connection-wise, the Bold supports Wi-Fi, 3G, Bluetooth, and built-in GPS. Another area where the phone shines is its native multimedia support. The media player has a clean interface, and the phone natively supports DivX, XviD, H.264, and WMV3 video formats. Audio format support is common with 3GP, MP3, WMA9, MIDI, and AAC.

If you’ve never owned a BlackBerry, you definitely can’t go wrong with the Bold. If you already own a BlackBerry, the Bold is the perfect upgrade choice. The phone’s screen and keyboard really provide a pleasant user experience, and the multimedia support is top notch. The only major flaw in the phone is the low quality camera, but the rest of the phone’s features certainly make up for it.
